State Representative Adrienne Benavidez just reported that the Columbus Day repeal bill (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/hb19-1185) has passed the Colorado House this morning! The vote was 37 in favor and 26 against with 1 excused. This is as far as any effort to repeal Columbus Day has ever achieved in the Colorado legislature. We thank the perseverance of Adrienne, as well as the previous efforts by Rep. Joe Salazar in two previous attempts and State Senator Suzanne Williams in 2007 to repeal the racist Columbus Day holiday.
